Environmental Analysis and Management

OBJECTIVES
The main goal of the study programme is the Environmental Protection which can be achieved only if the environmental processes are well known as well as the possible modifications and perturbations of the system at macro and micro levels. The study programme is thus aimed at understanding the bio-geo-chemical processes in aquatic and terrestrial environment with particular reference to marine environment where most of the natural processes occur. The study programme also includes the knowledge of pollution phenomena with the aim to prevent them and/or to adopt the adequate tools for the remediation. The proposed study programme is based on a solid mathematics and physics approach in order to define quantitatively all the processes occurring in natural systems and to evaluate the influence of the anthropogenic inputs. In this light a statistic approach and computerized tools are also considered in the study programme.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Through the study programme the students acquire specific competences in the analysis and the management of the resources connected with the terrestrial and the marine systems, in the environmental impact evaluation, in the analysis and control of the pollution phenomena, in the planning of activities connected with sustainable development, in the integrated coastal zone management and in a correct territorial planning to minimize the environmental risk.
Possibilities of employment are in the public sector (ministry office and local administrations offices) in the research sector and private sector in which projects for the environmental impact evaluation, for the analysis and control of the pollution phenomena, for the integrated coastal zone management etc. are studied, planned or examined.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE DIDACTIC STRUCTURE
The main objective of the master's programme in Environmental Analysis and Management is to give an adequate preparation to graduates, based on deep knowledge of ecosystems, to programme a correct management of recourses in relation to safeguarding of the environment and the specific requirements of the territory. Postgraduates will be trained to manage both land and marine resources, to evaluate the impact on the environment, to analyse and control pollution, to plan remediation and bio-remediation projects, and to programme activities oriented towards sustainable development. Using the possibility of choosing specific subjects, the programme prepares students for the evaluation and management of marine ecosystems-with specific interest on integral management of the coast line-and land ecosystems which include inland water resources for an appropriate territorial planning which aims to mineralize environmental risks.

Intercultural Business Communication

OBJECTIVES
Graduates of the two-year second level degree course in Intercultural Business Communication will have highly developed communications skills in two foreign languages. They will be able to communicate effectively in complex business contexts, for example within international companies or small medium-sized enterprises planning an internationalization process. They will have a solid knowledge of the cultural characteristics of the countries where the languages they have studied are spoken and will understand the dynamics of intercultural communication. Therefore, they will also be able to speak and write properly in two foreign languages according to the different contexts in which they are asked to act.

- survey and analyze characteristics, risks and opportunities in international markets to support the development of management strategies (management consultants in international markets).
INFORMATION ABOUT THE DIDACTIC STRUCTURE
This is a two-year second level degree course. Students will deepen their knowledge in two foreign languages, chosen among Chinese, English, French, German, Russian and Spanish. Economic subjects focus on the most important aspects of internationalization processes. Foreign language exams include written and oral parts. Teaching methods include lectures, tutorials, foreign language instruction according to skill level, language labs, interdisciplinary workshops in linguistic, cultural and business topics, conferences and meetings with business experts and consultants and with Italian and foreign lecturers. All these activities aim to give students a deep linguistic and scientific knowledge which allows them both to continue their studies and research and to work in international markets.
