The vice president, Finance and Administration serves as the EMUNI's chief fiscal and administrative officer, overseeing all aspects of the university's operations: budget and finance, physical plant operations, infrastructure and environment, capital improvements, human resources, technology, campus, if any, and auxiliary services.
Position requirements
This position requires preferably a Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Management or related discipline; candidates holding alternate certification such as CPA may be considered with significant related experience. Doctorate preferred and 5-7 years of progressively responsible fiscal, supervisory and/or administrative management experience in a multicultural educational environment. The position also requires demonstrated experience in accounting, budgeting, fiscal affairs and management of physical plant and construction projects as well as a working knowledge of statutes and practices of national/local/international government agencies as they relate to financial and administrative functions of the EMUNI. The successful candidate must also demonstrate skill in fostering and nurturing the growth of technology within a multi campus infrastructure and have a successful record of interaction with institutions, government officials, outside agencies, vendors and the community. The incumbent must be an excellent communicator; exhibit a commitment to integrative management and systems thinking; show himself / herself to be a team-oriented problem setter/solver; exhibit an ability to "think outside the box" and to lead/manage system change; and be keenly aware of the role that technology plays in efficient and effective management of contemporary administration.
Essential functions
Implements financial, accounting and budget systems that promote financial stability, in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal and state regulations and guidelines, in order to maximize the University's resources.
- Establishes a budget development process that is built on effective and responsive communication and that results in an equitable spending plan, reflecting all aspects of the college mission.
- Establishes systems and procedures that preserve the safety and integrity of the University's financial and payroll records, and which ensure the consistent delivery of high quality services.
- Ensures a physical environment that is clean, aesthetic, safe, well-maintained and conductive to the learning process.
- Develops and oversees the university's dynamic capital improvement program.
- Develops a leadership team that promotes innovation, accountability and excellence consistent with both the strategic goals, and a unitary EMUNI concept, and that values collaborative efforts to achieve these goals.
- Provides overall leadership answering to the President for direction to the development of EMUNI's technology resources and worksclosely with the President and the other Vp/S. 8. Provides cost-effective administrative support services responsive to the needs of students, staff and community.
- Establishes self-supporting auxiliary operations which support the mission of EMUNI and provide economical service to students, staff andcommunity.
- Actively supports the teaching and learning process, working to create and support a student-centred environment and liaises with Academic and Convalidation agencies in support of EMUNI's prospectiveacademic programmes.
- Works actively with other areas of EMUNI to ensure a spirit of EMUNI-wide collaboration, collegiality, civility and teamwork.
- Embraces and supports the principle that "diversity is everybody's business" through the daily performance of duties and responsibilities.
- Provides flexible, responsive and high-quality customer service to all whom we serve, be they students, international community or staff, and continuously assesses processes and procedures to revise accordingly.
- Serves as a member of the president's Senior Management Team, committed to:
- Serving as an educational leader, not just a manager, functioning as part of a senior level management team that fosters pride and excellence in the institution in a human, supportive environment;
- Ensures that all Administrative Services programs, support services, resources and systems are user-friendly, supportive of the University's mission of affordability, accessibility and quality for all students (credit and professional development) and are constantly assessed and revised to achieve and maintain state of the art currency;
- Advancing the core principles of EMUNI mission, vision and strategic priorities, providing leadership and opportunity in this area for all staff; setting a high standard of performance for both self and staff, nurturing and supporting their achievement while modelling behaviour supportive of institutional values and goals; works closely with the president, Senior Management Team, management board and other departments etc
- Ensuring effective communication throughout both the Administrative Services area and the EMUNI community and prepare budgets and make presentations at Management Board and other meetings associated with Administrative and Budgetary requirements of EMUNI.
Language knowledge of English and/or French together with Slovenian is a must to this post.
