Portorož, Slovenia, 6 September. EMUNI University hosted Ms. Maria Civarella, the officer from the Department of International Relations at the University of Foggia (Italy) under the Erasmus Mobility programme. During Ms. Civarella visit several inter department meetings have been held at EMUNI premises in Portorož.  Ms. Civarella presented University of Foggia and introduced possibilities for cooperation between the universities.

The University of Foggia has been established in 1999. The University is managed by Rector Prof. Giuliano Volpe, together with the Academic Senate and the Board of Administration. Despite being the youngest university in Italy, it consists of 6 Faculties and 12 Departments, like the Faculty of Agriculture, Medicine and Surgery, Economics, Law, Humanities, Science of Education.

University of Foggia has also the Interdepartmental Research Centre "BIOAGROMED" for the quality and safety of food production and health biotechnology. BIOAGROMED is operating in close cooperation with all faculties, mainly the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The University also develops First Level and Second Level Degree Courses and also Master's Programmes, PhD and Specialization Courses.

With a particular focus on the Department of International Relation, this department has always tried to establish projects of academic cooperation providing funding for students, teachers and the administrative staff. One of the main goals is to promote and strengthen the international cooperation with partners of the EUROMED regions.

One of such examples is the project with Iraq and Kurdistan region, which is uniqueness of University of Foggia among HEI in Italy. University has established cooperation and exchange of professors and students with Universities in Bagdad and Kurdistan region. They were provided with the scholarships and financial support to study in Italy. At the later stage the project has been supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Italy and has gained international reputation.

The exchange programme was very fruitful and provided several exchange of knowledge in areas such as Erasmus IP programme, Erasmus mobility and planning on new TEMPUS joint project between Universities for the next call. EMUNI University will shortly after her visit implement further Erasmus Mobility programmes with University of Foggia, sending one representative for a week training on language and organizational matters.
