Malta, August 2010. Meeting with Dr. Sergio Piazzi, Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, Secretary General and with Hon. Jesmond Mugliett, Head of PAM Parliamentary Delegation.

The President of EMUNI had a long meeting following up the joint PAM sessions in the Parliament of Slovenia and the event with a joint meeting of Rectors and Parlementarians from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean held in Ljubljana and in Piran. The meeting concentrated on a number of issues including the request by PAM to organise courses in the PAM headquarters in Malta in a number of areas including language teaching and intercultural dialogue on issues pertaining to the agenda of the Union for the Mediterranean.

It was agreed that PAM through its secretariat and its members would offer EMUNI technical advice to the teams which are planning the EU ENPI postgraduate programmes for EMUNI in areas such as civil protection, business development, etc.

The meeting focused also on the organisation of a joint EMUNI-PAMm course in languages of the Mediterranean, including an intensive course in Arabic.
Preparations will be made to develop this course for the coming academic year.

During the meeting EMUNI accepted the PAM invitation to become a formal observor to the Parliamentary Assembly and a formal request will be submitted by EMUNI by the end of the year.
