short visit to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai
and Abu Dhabi), the Vice-President of
the European Parliament Mrs. Rodi
Kratsa, responsible for the euromediterranean relations
and President of the EMPA Working
Group on the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI), had
the opportunity to hold important meetings for
the promotion of the Euro-Arab cooperation on education and culture. Mrs.
Kratsa has a special meeting with the Managing Director of the Mohammed
bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Mr. Adel Al Shared. The Foundation
was established in 2007, at the initiative of Emir of Dubai,
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
with ambitious goals, ie. the development of knowledge and human capital of the
arab world as well as the promotion of a future generation of regional
leaders, and a budget of $10 billion. During their meeting, Mrs. Kratsa
proposed the cooperation of the Foundation with EMUNI for a new impetus in
higher education at the euromediterranean region, a proposal that was accepted
with enthusiasm and specific ideas. She informed the Foundation of a
prospective visit of the President of the EMUNI Dr. Joseph Mifsud to
discuss the details of the envisaged cooperation.
