This summer two years passed
since the inauguration of the Euro-Mediterranean University - EMUNI in
Portorož, Slovenia. It was celebrated with a successful conference Research
Souk, taking place in Alexandria and involving more than 2000 students,
researches, professors and other experts from the Euro-Mediterranean. The first
academic year, in which the University began to be fully operational and
formally registered, has been very successful, in terms of cooperation with our
members, for our students and for the development of our institution. In the
academic year 2009/2010 EMUNI implemented EMUNI Master Study Programmes,
started to develop new Master Study Programmes, conducted several professional
school and summer school courses, doctoral seminars, conferences and performed
several other activities, described in more detail below:
EMUNI Master Study Programmes (EMUNI label) involved the implementation of 3 programmes:

Environment (in cooperation with University of Nova Gorica as the
responsible institution);

Migration and Intercultural Relations (in cooperation with
University of Nova Gorica as the responsible institution);

Euro-Mediterranean MA in Culture and Tourism (in cooperation with University of Bari, Italy as the responsible
institution).
EMUNI label master study programmes are being attended
by 27 students from Albania, Algeria,
BIH, Croatia, Egypt, Italy, Latvia, Morocco,
Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. Professors are coming from
the following countries: Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany,
Greece, Italy, Portugal,Slovenia, Spain and Tunisia.
Development of new Master Study Programmes
EMUNI started to develop its
own Master programmes, mainly in relation to the Union for the Mediterranean
priority areas and other topics, significant for the
Euro-Mediterranean region. The
programmes will be carried out at EMUNI and at EMUNI partner
universities and will base on international
comparability regarding credits, courses and awarded titles.
EMUNI Professional School was delivered in the frame of Euro-Mediterranean
Studies and in the frame of Public Management and Sustainable Development in
the Mediterranean. It encompassed 3 professional school courses:
- Euro-Mediterranean International Relations, implemented
by 6 lecturers from 5 different countries and attended by 21
participants coming from: Albania, Algeria, BIH, Croatia, Egypt,Italy,
Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.
- Public Management and Sustainable Development and
- Mediterranean Geopolitics, Economy and Major Projects, implemented by 5 lecturers from
Morocco, France and Slovenia.
2nd EMUNI DOCTORAL RESEARCH SEMINARS (EMUNI DocSem
2010) were implemented at
EMUNI:
-
Intercultural Dialogue in Higher Education/Research in
the Euro-Mediterranean, attended by 11 students from Greece, France, Italy,
Morocco, Slovenia, Tunisia, and Turkey.

Leadership for Cultural Diversity, attended by 8 students from Algeria, Hungary, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco,
Palestinian Authority, Slovenia.
3rd Euro-Mediterranean Summer Semester 2010
(EMUNI Summer 2010) takes place between June - September 2010 and involves 5 courses (selected by a Call) in
Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, and Tunisia.
