Belfast, UK, 24 - 28 May. Study visit at Queens University Belfast was organised by European
Training Foundation in the framework of the project »Entrepreneurial
learning«. EMUNI was represented by mag. Valerij Dermol from EMUNI partner
institution International School for social and Bussiness Studies (Celje,
Slovenia).
Project »Entrepreneurial
learning« covers 16 countries of South Eastern Europe, North Africa and the
Middle East. It aims to help build capacity for developing lifelong
entrepreneurial learning and the creation of enterprise skills in general and
higher education. EMUNI leads a group within the project including four other
institutions: International School for social and Bussiness Studies (Celje,
Slovenia), University of Nova Gorica (Nova Gorica, Slovenia), University of
Sousse (Sousse, Tunisia), Al Akhawayn University (Ifrane, Morocco).
The main aim of the visit
to Queens
University Belfast was to identify good practice in entrepreneurship promotion
in third-level education and to learn more about the Queens University
pioneering drive for entrepreneurship education. The three-day study visit
involved senior academics from nine universities who had come to Belfast to
learn ‘how and why' the university had picked up the prestigious award for the UK's
Entrepreneurial University of the Year.
The study
visit programme (24-26 May) centred round three core themes: university
entrepreneurial strategy, staff development and university-enterprise cooperation.
Experts learnt at first hand how top management ensures the enabling
environment for curriculum developments and more innovative teaching and
learning frameworks which fire the entrepreneurial drive amongst the
university's student body.
