Doha,
Marseille, Brussel, March. On
the occasion of the participation of the Vice-President of the European
Parliament and President of the EMPA Working Group on EMUNI Mrs. Rodi Kratsa in the meeting of Club de
Monaco in Qatar's Doha, Mrs. Kratsa visited the Qatar Foundation
and met with the President of Qatar Foundation, Dr. Mohammad Fathy Saoud,
Head of "Education City", Qatar Foundation's flagship project. Education City
is actually a network of - so far - six world-renowned U.S. universities, each
one in its sphere of specialisation. Upon the proposal of Mrs. Kratsa to establish a mutual cooperation
with EMUNI, the President demonstrated increased interest and requested that
the first steps for establishing cooperation with European and Arabic universities
of the Mediterranean region through EMUNI be made.
With
regards to the newly-established Center for Mediterranean Integration (CMI)
based
in
Marseille Mrs. Rodi Kratsa
stressed the need to include EMUNI to the list of its partners. The CMI is a
multi-partner collaborative arrangement, active in a number of sectors and
aimed to facilitate access to best knowledge, practices and support among
public and independent institutions. Mrs. Kratsa specifically proposed to involve EMUNI in CMI's field of action
focusing on "Skills, Employment and Labor Mobility."
Furthermore,
in Brussels she with the rectors of Universities of the South of France,
members of the "Pôle de recherche et d´enseignement supérieur" (Université de Nice - Sophia Antipolis, Université de Corse Pasquale Paoli, Université de Gênes, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Université du Sud Toulon-Var and Université de Turin) and suggested that they enhance their
presence and their contribution to the EMUNI activities as well as their active
participation to the EMUNI projects for the advancement of the common interest
in advanced research and education.
