Barcelona, Spain 4 -7 March 2010. The Anna Lindh
Foundation operates as a Network
of National Networks promoting intercultural dialogue in 43 countries of
the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership with more
than 2,800 members working in a wide range of fields, including culture,
arts, education, youth, research, migration, communication, governance, gender
issues and environment.
For the first time, the Foundation will gather around 500 of
these organizations, together with other thematic networks and ALF strategic
partners in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The aim is to give new momentum to the cooperation among civil
society organizations committed to intercultural dialogue in the region
and to increase its impact on the establishment of the Union for the
Mediterranean.
The organization of such an event in Barcelona, during the
Spanish Presidency, will be a proof of civil society commitment in favour of a
renewed Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, fully acknowledging the importance of
the dialogue between cultures, more necessary than ever in the social,
political and cultural context. As future home of the UfM Secretariat, Barcelona as host city of the Forum constitutes a
strong added value for such initiative. It is also there that the Barcelona
Process was born, in 1995.
The event will be built on two key pillars - the "Agora",
dedicated to plenary debate and workshops with experts on the achievements and
challenges of social and cultural cooperation in this regional framework, and
the "Medina", bringing together members of the Anna Lindh Foundation and
regional partners, one of which is also EMUNI.
