Beirut, Lebanon. Mrs. Rodi Kratsa, Vice-President
of the European Parliament responsible for the Euro-Mediterranean relations and
the President of the Monitoring Group of EMUNI visited Lebanon and held a
series of meetings with Lebanese officials.
Mrs. Kratsa, present throughout
crucial times of the country, congratulated the President, H.E. General Michel
Sleiman and the Prime Minister, Mr. Saad Hariri, for the formation of the new
government. Mrs. Kratsa also met with Member of Parliament and President of the
Foreign Affairs parliamentary Committee,
Mr. Abdullatif Alzein, the Minister of Economy & Trade, Mr. Muhammad Safadi and the Minister
of Labor, Mr. Boutros Harb.
With the Minister of Education
and Higher Learning, Dr. Hassan Mneimneh, she
also discussed the active participation of Lebanese Universities of
the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). She informed Mr. Mneimneh about the
recent decision of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly to establish a
Working Group on EMUNI presided by herself and underlined her willingness to
cooperate closely with Lebanon
on this issue. In this respect she also met with the Counsellor of the
President of Lebanon responsible for the Euromed
Agency for Research, Dr. Elie Assaf.
