2011 EMUNI General Assembly will be held  at the Premises of the University of Lisbon in Portugal.  All members attendance is highly vital for the success of this years event and we, therefore, are inviting all member institutions to attend this year`s General Assembly.
What, Why and How do We Move Forward...
Brussels, Belgium, 5 October.
The parliamentary assembly for the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and working group for EMUNI University organised the second discussion day on the prospects of EMUNI.

79 scholarships for 11 Master Study Programmes from INPDAP
The scholarships are available to Italian civil servants, sons, daughters and orphans of civil servants, and sons, daughters and orphans of retired civil servants INPDAP.
The students can apply to different EMUNI Master Study programmes.

Helping Hands at the EMUNI University from Jordan and Tunisia             
Portorož, Slovenia, 20 October. Based on the bilateral cooperation between EMUNI University and The Hashemite University in Jordan, EMUNI welcomed 2 professionals from the latter University Mr. Maed al-Khalailah, the Head of Buero at the faculty for Natural Resources and Environment, Hamdi Ali Shdifat, Assistant Manager in International Relations Office. Additionally, EMUNI is currently having the 3rd trainee Mr. Anouar Darguech from University of Gabes, Tunisia, who works in the Management and Academic affairs in the home University.
EMUNI Talks: Contemporary Arab literature as a reflection of political and social changes
Ljubljana, Slovenia, 18 October. EMUNI Foundation in cooperation with the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) hosted a new EMUNI Talks event with a prominent author Samuel Shimon and Margaret Obank, editors of the Banipal magazine, one of the leading magazines for the promotion of Arab literature in the world.
Clarkson University from USA approaching EMUNI University
Portorož, Slovenia, 18 October. University welcomed the first visit by Professor Dr. Peter Turner to discuss cooperation between the students and professors in the fields of arts and science. Prof. Turner is the Dean of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Mathematics at Clarkson University in Potsdam NY USA. EMUNI welcomed professor and presented the University with several suggestions for cooperation: exchange of individual students and professors for interdisciplinary EMIR Course in Portorož. Prof. Turner was particularly interested in EMUNI programmes in the areas of energy, environment, and social studies.
North-South Centre Executive Director Visiting EMUNI
Portorož, Slovenia, 17 October. EMUNI University was honoured to host Mr. Denis Huber, Director of North-South Centre, an autonomous institution of the Council of Europe. It was created in 1989 and is currently involving 22 member states.
EMUNI Participated in WorldSkills 2011 London
London, United, Kingdom, 6 - 8 October. Dozens of thousands of University Students, vocational trainees and flooded the huge ExCel exhibition center in London to participate at the WorldSkills 2001, the biggest planetary competition in vocational skills. The event was organised by Youth on the Move which was the main exhibitor which today programmed several Leonardo, Comenius and Youth on the Move experiences, plus a presentation of Eures.
EMUNI at the CAMPUS MARE NOSTRUM Official Academic Year Opening and Researcher's Night 2011
Cartagena, Spain, 22 September. Prof. Josef Mifsud, President of EMUNI, took part in the 2011 official academic year opening event at Campus Mare Nostrum. This ceremony opens the academic year for the two public universities in the Region of Murcia: the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the University of Murcia. The event was attended by 600 + guests and was chaired by Mr. Ramón Luis Valcárcel, President of the Regional Government of Murcia.
Present and Future of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership                
Bari, Italy, 20-25 September. The President of EMUNI, Joseph Mifsud participated in this well attended open air event in Bari together with Prof. Virgilio Dastoli, (President of the council of the Italian European Movement, Dr. Cosimo Lacirignola, the director of the Agronomic Institute of the Mediterranean (Ciheam), with Giacomo Filibeck, International Secretary of the Democratic Party in Italy and in Europe. The debate was chaired by Prof. Patrizia Calafato of the University of Bari, another partner member of EMUNI.
International Forum on Democratic Transitions and Constitutional Processes in the Arab World
Rabat, Morocco, 16 - 17 September. EMUNI was invited to partecipate in the forum organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development of the Kingdom of Morocco to discuss democratic transitions and constitutional processes. Around one hundred participants coming from Libya, Portugal Morocco, the EU Parliament, France, Tunisia, Spain, Jordan, Germany, the USA, Hungary, Mauritania and Austria.
EMUNI Postgraduate Programme Approved by the UfM and Formally Given UfM Label
Barcelona, Spain, 14 - 15 September. During the Union for the Mediterranean Senior Officials' meeting which represents formally the 43 member states of the Union, together with other representatives, such as those coming from the European Commission, ARLEM, the European Investment Bank and others, Prof. Ilan Chet, Deputy Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean in charge of Higher Education, Science and Technology, with the support of the President of EMUNI, Joseph Mifsud, presented the agreed agenda of EMUNI projects after the EMUNI Senate held in Barcellona earlier this year. EMUNI Master Programmes and Ph.D. Programmes were approved as UfM official projects after an intensive debate amongst the SOM representatives.

Managing Sustainability?

Evening with Policy Makers

A special plenary event will be organised during the conference. It will feature 3-4 policy makers in the area of sustainable development. Policy makers with strong expert or academic background from different countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region will take part. They will be asked to share their experience on 'managing sustainability' via the political process.

The International Journal of Euro-Mediterranean Studies (IJEMS) is an open access journal aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue and exchanges between societies, developing human resources, and assuring greater mutual understanding in the Euro-Mediterranean region. To accomplish this objective, the journal seek to publish high quality research papers and case studies.
