Call for Enrolment: Intercultural Business Communication and Environmental Analysis and Management
We are pleased to announce that the EMUNI University is issuing calls for enrolment of students in the master programmes Intercultural Business Communication and Environmental Analysis and Management.
We are pleased to announce that EMUNI University is issuing a call for Hosting Institution for the EMUNI Study Programmes.
The call is open to all EMUNI University members and aims at creating a network of specialised postgraduate study programmes among the Euro-Mediterranean universities.
We are pleased to announce that EMUNI University is issuing a call for enrolment of professors in the module Euro-Mediterranean Module (EMS module).
EMUNI University is searching for full professors and/or experts to give lectures in the EMS module inEnglish, French or Spanish. The module will be delivered on the basis of blended learning, a combination of online and face-to-face tuition.

Visit to the University of Haifa, Israel
The President of EMUNI had an intensive trip to Israel between the 26th and 30th of July to discuss bilateral issues between EMUNI and one of the founder members of EMUNI, the University of Haifa. During his visit President Mifsud had the opportunity of meeting with Aaran Ben-Ze-Ev, his host, the Rector David Faraggi who is a senate member of EMUNI and the Vice President of Haifa University, Prof. Batia Laufer.

Books as Knowledge transmission tool: gender literature and history observed from the sea in the Mediterranean area
Catania, Italy, 25 July. The University of Catania has taken part in the EMUNI call for the second edition of the EMUNI Research Souk on the topic 'Living together in a multi-cultural society'. The specific theme chosen was 'The Literature' as one of the most important elements in order to reach a mutual cultural exchange among the Mediterranean countries which are geographically near but far apart from an intellectual point of view.

Doctoral Research Seminar: Civil Rights Protection and the Rights of Migrants in the Framework of the Mediterranean Cooperation

19 July. President Joseph Mifsud and Deputy Secretary General of the UfM, Prof. Ilan Chet visited the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg on a discussion of the role and vision of the EIB towards the Mediterranean.
Barcelona, Spain, 18 July. Local Employment, Skills and Entrepreneurship strategies in the Mediterranean: Developing Pathways for the Future; The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the OECD Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) programme, in collaboration with the City of Barcelona, co-organised an expert meeting to discuss pathways for employment and skills strategies in the Mediterranean region.
H.E. Dr. Wajih Owais: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research met with the President of EMUNI Joseph Mifsud, on the margins of the Mediterranean Prize in Lauria. In a joint meeting, also attended by the Vice President of the European Parliament Gianni Pittella, it was decided that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan would take a more active part in EMUNI activities and that an EMUNI office would be hosted in Jordan so that initiatives could be better served and followed in the region.
18 July. The President of Emuni, Joseph Mifsud had the first official meeting with Mr. Youssef Amrani the new Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean.
Lauria, Italy, 16 - 17 July. The First Vice President of the European Parliament Gianni Pittella honoured EMUNI and its President with the Mediterranean Prize on Intercultural Dialogue, Higher Education and Research.
Celje, Slovenia, 8 July 2011. The International School of Social and Business Studies (ISSBS) has successfully completed the second International Summer School titled 'Learn to Innovate and Global Business' within the 4th Euro-Mediterranean Summer Semester of the EMUNI University. Thirty-three students from ten countries are after two weeks of lectures, workshops and socializing going back home with pleasant impressions of the faculty and Celje and enriched with new knowledge and a unique international experience.
Ljubljana, Slovenia, 15 July 2011. Beaming with smiles of gratitude and appreciation, the diplomatic corps accredited to Ljubljana gathered to pay farewell to HE Ahmed Farouk, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ljubljana who has finished his duties.
Rabat, Morocco, 12 - 13 July. EMUNI attended The African Education Summit which is a landmark event aimed at directly improving the quality of education with a particular focus on increasing investment and access to technology. The event was under the patronage of the Moroccan Ministry of Education.
Marrakesh, Morocco, 13 July. Moroccan Centre for Strategic Studies and the African Federation for Strategic Studies; EMUNI participated in this forum organised by the President of CMES, Prof. Mohamed Benhammou.
The project aimed to create a specialized centre for postgraduate studies which provides education and training at different levels in aspects of maritime and underwater archaeology, and to develop a postgraduate Diploma and Master programmes in Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage, designed and structured in accordance with EU standards.
Paris, France, 7 July. EMUNI University met with Prof Catherine Vesperini, President of the Euro-Mediterranean Institute of Risk Science (IEMSR), to discuss the Master Program the two institutions are developing together.
Warsaw, Poland, 6 -7 July. The European Commission and the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union organised a conference on Eastern dimension of Mobility in Warsaw. EMUNI participated in this conference that was organised as a part of the Eastern Partnership and dedicated to the issue of the mobility of Students, Professors, researchers, youth, and Cultural actors.
Amman, Jordan, 11 July. In its annual meeting held in Brungen city, to the north of Amsterdam- Holland, the General Assembly of Arab and European Universities Association (AEUA) has selected Professor Marwan Kamal of Philadelphia University (PU) as the President of the AEUA and Chair of the Board of Directors of Arab and European Universities Association for a 3-year period. Professor Jan Donnar, the President of the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies in Holland has been selected as the Vice President.

Meeting at the London Academy of Diplomacy
London, United Kingdom, 4 -5 July.
A strategic meeting with the participation of EMUNI was held in London chaired by the Prof. Edward Acton, Vice Chancellor of one of the EMUNI members (the University of East Anglia, UK). The meeting which was attended by a number of UK and Foreign Experts was aimed to develop a global strategy for the institution.

EMUNI was invited to participate as a possible consortium builder and as a consortium partner for a seminar on Conflict and peace in a changing international context: Funding opportunities, matchmaking, networking in FP7.

Erasmus Staff Training Week: Internationalisation at University of Lisbon
Lisbon, Portugal, 27 June - 1 July. University of Lisbon (Universidade de Lisboa) hosted the 2nd Erasmus Staff Mobility week between 27 June and 1 July. The theme of the seminar was Internationalisation and it was organised by the rectorate's External Relations Unit.

University of Groningen, The Netherlands, 3 - 6 July 2011. Rector Maurits Von Rooijen of Nyenrode Business University, Chairman of the Management Board of EMUNI attended the AEUA meeting to discuss the possible role of EMUNI in this organisation and to foster new links for EMUNI with the Presidents of Arab Universities.
EMUNI Management Board Session
Nyenrode Business University, Netherlands, 2 July. The Nyenrode Business University, Netherlands hosted the 11th Session of the EMUNI Management Board.
Prof. Maurits Van Rooijen Rector of the Nyenrode Business University and Chairman of the EMUNI Management Board welcomed the EMUNI members. Prof. Maurits Van Rooijen presented the main activities of the Nyenrode University, which hosts students from all over the world. He also took the opportunity to support EMUNI University, outlining the important and crucial mission that EMUNI University has to enhance the cooperation within the region, reinforcing north-south and south-south mobility of ideas, expertise and academic know-how.
Erasmus Conference: Annual meeting of German HEI, DAAD
Bonn, Germany,29 June - 2 July 2011. The aim of HEI in Germany and DAAD is to increase the Erasmus Mobility for what they have launched several programmes and conducted various research projects to foster the mobility. In general there was around 69 000 active incoming and outgoing Erasmus mobility in Germany in 2009/2010 stated Dr. Siegbert Wuttig, Director of the national agency for EU programmes for HEI at DAAD.

Evening with Policy Makers

A special plenary event will be organised during the conference. It will feature 3-4 policy makers in the area of sustainable development. Policy makers with strong expert or academic background from different countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region will take part. They will be asked to share their experience on 'managing sustainability' via the political process.
